Archaeology

Archéologie

Archeologists have unearthed numerous objects which have taught us a lot about ancient civilisations, making it certainly one of the most fascinating of professions.
They make us relive the past and teach us that civilisation began in Sumer around 5,000 years ago.
By virtue of that we assert a certain historical continuity with an almost lineal progression in terms of the sciences and techniques.

All would be well in the best of all possible worlds were it not for the impossible discoveries... Incompatible with the supposed level of development in any given epoch.
These "historically incongruous artefacts" or OOParts raise numerous questions which unfortunately do not meet with satisfactory answers.

In effect, wherever they are not merely ignored, they are given the status of cult objects ; a handy expediency to avoid problems. To mention just a few artefacts out of time at random :

All this is to demonstrate that Man had access to knowledge beyond their time, a technology of their own, used and then forgotten, apparently ( for example, the vitrified walls ).

Some of these objects have been given serious study and have lost their air of mystery ( for example, the cylinders of fossilised iron ).
It is for this very reason that they deserve in depth investigation - to prevent them becoming " magic " relics, the holy water for certain sects.

Hypothesis :

From the beginning of life on earth, the time scale is an impressive one. Why imagine only one "humanity" in that scale or just one Civilisation ?
The total extinction of the dinosaurs shows us that a wholesale extinction on a planetary scale is possible. Why not imagine hominids before this extinction ?

After this massive destruction , life took its slow but inexorable march forward, not starting from zero but from certain species who survived which have been well identified by our scientists.

In the same way, we find traces of previous civilisations which have completely disappeared, as for example at Nazca, at Nan Madol, in Zimbabwe. And what if Atlantis wasn't just a myth ?

Before the appearance of writing, there was an oral tradition which through the ages has conveyed to us often convergent and graphic events.
Today, with recent discoveries, we are able to corroborate some of these legends, in itself a proof that they merit special attention ; the discovery of Troy is a case in point.

The main objection to this hypothesis resides i the fact that, "apparently", we have found no trace of manufactured objects before our own Civilisation which might lead us to an alternative theory.

In fact, there are traces. Few, but they exist ! Perhaps not as one would have expected - undoubtedly, we will not find automobiles or bottles of soda, but we have already found...
